Srikkanth suggested that India should find explosive players like Ishan Kishan, who recently scored the fastest double hundred in ODI cricket.
1983 World Cup-winning cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth believes that Virat Kohli’s presence in the team is crucial for youngsters like Ishan Kishan to do well in the ODI format. Kohli is often regarded as one of the best batsmen in modern-day cricket as he has scored 72 international centuries in his career so far. The batting maverick has been one of the most integral parts of the Indian set-up across formats in the last decade.
After back-to-back defeats in ICC tournaments, the pressure is mounting on the Indian team to regain glory in this year’s ODI World Cup. Kohli was part of India’s 2011 World Cup winning team and the 2023 mega ICC event will be his fourth 50-over World Cup.

Known for playing fearless shots, the veteran opener said it is important to give freedom to the players and the team management should instill confidence in the team.
He said, ‘He will help players like Ishaan Kishan to move forward, like he scored a century when Kishan scored a double century. It’s all about freedom, giving freedom to your players, do what you want, play your game even if you get out, that should be the approach of the team,” he added.
