Virat Kohli’s India rip it on the stump microphone after Dean Elgar’s comeback due to controversial DRS

India skipper Virat Kohli and his teammates lost their cool during the final 45 minutes on the third day when rival skipper Dean Elgar was largely relieved by a controversial DRS decision.

Some lewd comments made about umpiring and technology as well as broadcasters may not go down well with the match referee and the Indian captain may face financial penalties.

The incident happened in the 21st over when Ravichandran Ashwin lofted one which dipped and then hit Elgar’s bat directly.

Umpire Marais Erasmus pointed his finger straight but Elgar appealed for DRS.

Once he saw on the big screen that he had been beaten, he began to back away only for his pleasure, seeing that the ball was going over the stumps.

While it looked dead plumb, all kinds of chatter ensued as Kohli kicked off the field with disgust when the decision was reversed.

The players knew that the stump microphone verbally captured everything, the players gave everyone in South Africa a chance to know their feelings.

“The whole country is up against 11 players,” said one, while another said, “the broadcasters are here to make money off the boys.”

“I hope the stump microphone is recording it,” said another.

Ashwin also couldn’t stop himself from taking a dig at the broadcaster’s ball-tracking technique, saying, “You should find better ways to win Supersport.”

Kohli added, “Focus on your team too, not just the opposition. Trying to catch people all the time.”

KL Rahul went to another extent when he said, “The whole country is playing against XI guys.”

Kohli had actually sledged Elgar earlier as well when he made a lewd remark about Elgar being intimidated by Jasprit Bumrah.

‘Incredible. Running away from (away) Jasprit, after his man of the match performance in the last game. Chirping for 13 years, Dean and you think you’re gonna shut me up,” Kohli told Slip.

However, this incessant chatter didn’t deter attention as South Africa scored some quick runs after that.

Continued criticism of the decision seemed like an excuse for another poor batting performance with scores of 223 and 198.

At the end of the day’s play, India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey tried to douse the fire.

“We saw it, you saw it. I’ll leave it for the match referee to see. I can’t comment on it right now. We’ve seen it all, just want to move on with the game now.”
