Ponting revealed that he had a chat with Kohli in Bangalore during an IPL match where the RCB maestro told him that he has got his mojo back and is almost back to his best.

Legendary Australia skipper Ricky Ponting suggested that Virat Kohli will be a pricey wicket that the Australian bowlers will target in next month’s World Test Championship final. Kohli has returned to form and has scored consistently across formats in the last few months. The batting maestro hit a century against Australia in the fourth match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year and all eyes will once again be on him when India take on Pat Cummins and Co. in the WTC final at The Oval on June 7. Will happen.

Kohli has been in consistent form for RCB this season of IPL and he scored a brilliant century against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday night to keep his team’s hopes alive in the tournament.

Ponting revealed that he had a chat with Kohli in Bangalore during an IPL match where the RCB maestro told him that he has got his mojo back and is almost back to his best.

Ponting said, “I spoke to Virat about a month ago when we played him in Bangalore.” In fact, it looks like he is almost back to his absolute best,” Ponting said at an event on Friday.

While Ponting also talked about Kohli’s ton against SRH and warned the Aussies about his form.

“You probably noticed last night, you know, he’s had a very good IPL and I’m sure he’ll be the prize wicket that all Australians are looking forward to,” he said.

Meanwhile, India will be without some of their key players in the WTC final as KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah are recovering from their respective injuries.

Ponting suggested that the contest would be between India’s top order and the Australian pace attack at the Oval.

“I think it will be India’s top order against Australia’s fast bowling, it is a slightly mouth-watering thought.

“Normally, we think of a battle between the spinners of India and the batsmen of Australia. But will this be negated by the wicket at the Oval? Generally the wickets I’ve played on at The Oval have started off as really good batting wickets, and have really offered a bit to the spinners as the game goes on,” he said.
