“Virat Kohli must be disappointed with his dismissals in this series. He has been struggling for a while to play leg-spin whether it is Adil Rashid or Adam Zampa, and now he has been out for Mitchell Santner’s left-arm spin in two consecutive matches,” Jaffer told ESPNcricinfo. .

The batsman moved up to fourth in the batting rankings after two centuries against Sri Lanka, but will need to find his form in the Indore ODI vs New Zealand to retain his spot.

Jaffer said expectations are always high from Kohli but he needs to score some big runs to enter the Australia Test with some extra confidence.

He said, ‘I am hopeful that Kohli will make a good comeback in the third ODI keeping in mind the big picture. Australia is touring soon and they have a solid bowling unit with Nathan Lyon. So, he is always expected to score runs and do well,” Jaffer said.

The former opener lauded Mohammed Shami for his sensational spell in Raipur, where he picked up three wickets and was also named player of the match.

“I thought he bowled really well, Siraj and even Hardik Pandya appreciated him. so i thought India Bowled really well. Even though it looked like Rohit Sharma was indecisive about bowling first, and it took a long time, even Tom Latham said he would bowl first,” Jaffer said.
