‘Virat Kohli is the best batsman of this era’: Mohammad Amir

New Delhi: Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir said that Virat Kohli is the best batsman of this generation. Amir is currently playing in the T10 League in Abu Dhabi.

However, describing Virat as the best batsman of this era, he said that he did not find it much difficult to bowl against him but whenever he bowled against Australia’s linchpin batsman Steven Smith, he found it very challenging. Virat Kohli is known for his enthusiasm and aggression on the field. He hasn’t scored a century since 2019 but still has a batting average of over 50.

“I think, in my opinion, Virat Kohli is the best batsman of this era, although I don’t find him bowling hard against him, I think he is the best batsman of this era. Steven Smith is the player I think It is a difficult batsman for me to bowl personally,” Aamir told Zee News.

“When I played in 2009 Shane Watson was a very difficult batsman to bowl to in white-ball cricket but now I feel Steven Smith because I don’t understand how Steve Smith bats, I bowl to him outside I do, he’ll flick it. Leg-side, if I bowl him over the legs, he’ll make room and run to cover that bowl. I’m having trouble understanding how Smith actually bats do,” he said.

Amir and Kohli have been involved in a contest on several occasions. His best performance against Team India was in the final of the 2017 Champions Trophy. Amir then shook the Indian batting lineup as he then picked up the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan.
