Popular Indian stand-up comedian Vir Das on Tuesday (November 16) landed in a new controversy after posting the video ‘I come from to India’s’ on his YouTube channel. Responding to a tweet criticizing Vir Das for his performance, Richa Chadha tweeted, “Gentle reminder that the pursuit of azaadi should also free us from all-season RWA presidents who masquerade as politicians. The ‘national image’ argument is irrelevant, when brutal crimes become global headlines and the country has fallen several ranks across all indices”.

Sharing the above video, Hansal Mehta tweeted, “I am very impressed by this @thevirdas. I come from an India where a Vir Das needs courage to say, I come from an India Where many of us admire this courage, yet choose to remain calm”.

Actor Ashwin Mushran also shared Das’ statement and highlighted that there is an India that “sits through 6 minutes of a video and another that runs through 15 seconds of an edited one of the same”.

There is huge outrage after Vir Das’s monologue. Two complaints have also been filed against the comedian for “derogatory statements against India”.
