Removed them from parts. Police had released posters of around 30 people allegedly involved in the violent protests that took place in Ranchi on June 10, in which two people lost their lives and two dozen were injured.

A PTI report said the move came a day after Governor Ramesh Bais summoned DGP Neeraj Sinha and other senior officials at the Raj Bhavan and raised questions during the meeting as to how to disperse the crowd during the agitation. Why was the preventive measure or action not taken? Controversial statement on Prophet Muhammad

Jharkhand Police spokesperson and IG said, “We had released the photographs of those involved in the violence, seeking public support to identify them. However, the Ranchi district police took them down due to some technical glitches. The posters were reissued. Will be done.” (Operations) Amol V Homkar told PTI.
Efforts are on to identify around 30 people involved in the violence, he said.

Sources said the posters were released after extensive exercise by technical experts and photojournalists. Numbers of police officers were mentioned in the posters to provide information about the whereabouts of the agitators.

Meanwhile, the ruling JMM took strong objection to the release of the poster, saying there was no need for it as the police already had enough information about the protesters and the move could lead to further unrest. “The action taken by the Jharkhand Police was hasty. It was taken after the Governor’s direction. This move may create social division. We object to the posters as they were completely inappropriate.”

JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said, the Allahabad High Court had also asked the Uttar Pradesh government to remove hoardings of people registered in cases of alleged vandalism and arson related to protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act in Lucknow.

On Monday, the governor had questioned why police personnel were not wearing protective gear during the protests, how many arrests were made and what action was taken against those spreading rumours. He asked the police to release posters of those involved in the violent protests so that they could be identified. He had also questioned why water cannons, rubber bullets and tear gas were not used to control the situation.

The Director General of Police had informed Governor Ramesh Bais that according to a report by the Intelligence Bureau (IB), only 150 people were expected to vote during the protests. However, thousands of people took part in the violent protest.
