Vinayaka Chaturthi 2021: Significance, method of worship and auspicious time

Vinayaka Chaturthi fasting in the month of Ashadha, according to the Hindu Vedic calendar, called Panchang, falls on Tuesday, July 13. Vinayaka Chaturthi Tithi will start from 8:24 am on 13th July and will continue till 8:02 am on 14th July. The auspicious time of worship will start from 11:25 am on 13th July till 12 noon. July 14 at 02:03 pm.

Vinayaka Chaturthi 2021: Significance

This day is celebrated on the Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha. This auspicious day is very important for those who believe in Lord Ganesha. On this day, devotees observe a fast and pray to God to grant them wisdom and patience. This day is also known as Varad Vinayaka Chaturthi. The word Varad means “to ask God to fulfill one’s wish.”

Chaturthi falls twice every month, but the most important is celebrated in the month of Bhadrapada. This day is known as Ganesh Chaturthi. Many cities also declare a holiday on this holy day. The puja on this auspicious day is usually performed during day time. Devotees who observe fast on this day take a bath early in the morning, wear new clothes and take a vow to keep the fast with determination and dedication.

Those who observe fast on this day are not allowed to eat non-vegetarian food and have to maintain celibacy. During fasting, only fruits, milk, food items are allowed which do not contain onion or garlic.

While worshiping during Shubh Muhurta, people light a diya in front of the idol of Lord Ganapati and offer kumkum, sandalwood, flowers and modaks to him. In addition, they meditate and pray to God to fulfill their desires and aspirations.

As a part of the rituals, many also recite Vinayaka Chaturthi Vrat Katha, and perform Ganesha aarti with ‘Shraddha’. After doing this, the prasad is distributed among friends, family and other believers.
