Village revenue officer arrested for demanding, accepting bribe of Rs 3,000 in Telangana Latest and Breaking News, India News, Political, Sports – Since Independence

Warangal (Telangana) [India]June 29 (ANI): The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Monday evening arrested a Village Revenue Officer (VRO) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000.
An official statement from the Anti-Corruption Bureau said, “At around 10:16 hrs on Monday, Edaraboina Lillaiya, working as Village Revenue Officer (VRO) at Medapalli, Tehsildar office in Nallabeli mandal of Warangal rural district, was caught red-handed by the complainant. The Anti-Corruption Bureau in front of Devaraju Ekambaram’s house, when he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 3,000 from the complainant for processing the complainant’s file relating to sanction of financial assistance under the government scheme Kalyan Lakshmi. On his request, the bribe amount was recovered from his possession.
Earlier, in the month of February 2021, the VRO had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant to initiate the processing of the above file. However, on the request of the complainant, he reduced it to Rs 3,000.
The Village Revenue Officer is being arrested and produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Hyderabad.
This matter is under investigation. (ANI)
