Vikramaditya Singh To Contest Against Kangana Ranaut In Mandi

After rounds of discussions in the party, Congress has finally decided to field Vikramaditya Singh, who is currently an MLA from Shimla rural constituency, as its candidate for Mandi. Notably, Bollywood queen Kangana Ranaut is contesting for the very same seat for the BJP.

Before him, speculations were doing rounds on Pratibha Singh contesting again from the seat. Though she restrained herself from elections initially, a high-level meeting in Chandigarh in the beginning of April changed her mind and she responded to a reporter’s question – Will do as the high command wants.

Vikramaditya Singh is the son of the late Virbhadra Singh aka Raja Sahib who served as the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, and Pratibha Singh, sitting MP of Mandi. Both Virbhadra and Pratibha Singh have served Mandi thrice as its member of Parliament.

This prince is a two-time MLA from the Shimla rural constituency and currently serves as PWD, Youth Services & Sports, and Urban Development Minister in the Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu government.

Before being picked as the candidate, Vikramaditya had been active in the upcoming polls and recently commented on Kangana’s speech in Manali. Taking a jibe at Ranaut, he said that he bowed his head at the language that the Bollywood actress used for Himachal and the Congress party.

Commenting on her speech where she said Manali is her home, Vikramaditya said that it suffered the biggest disaster of this era a few months back, where was she then? Why didn’t she pay a single visit to her ‘home’?

Kangana is a newbie in politics but after adjusting to a small portfolio in the Himachal government after his father’s demise, Vikramaditya too seems to have lost the charm his father used to garner. This seat has gotten more interesting with the announcement of Congress’s candidate, June 4 will satiate all the curiosities that are pumping for this territory.
