Students and security guards clashed at Allahabad University

Students and security personnel clashed at the prestigious Allahabad University this evening following a dispute over entry into the campus.
A video circulating on social media showed students throwing stones at guards and policemen who were called to the campus after the violence began.
A motorcycle was set on fire. In another video, the guards are purportedly seen hitting the students with batons at the main gate.
The violence erupted after a student leader got into an argument with university guards who were allegedly not allowing him to enter the campus.
The leader has been part of the long-running protest on the campus over the fee hike that has been going on for a few months now. The university administration has said that it will not roll back the fee hike.
Both sides have claimed injuries. Police said the situation is now under control and relatively calm. Police Commissioner Ramit Sharma told reporters that the students have been made to sit near the student union office and all their complaints will be heard.
