Video: SUV Topples Across Eight-Lane After Hitting Bike In Madurai

Madurai: In a tragic incident, five people lost their lives as a speeding car collided with a two-wheeler following which it topples eight lanes of the Virudhunagar-Madurai highway on Wednesday.

A video of the incident is doing rounds on social media showcasing the disturbing accident in which the car can be seen hitting a bike following which it rammed into the divider and toppled across eight lanes. The incident is of Virudhunagar-Madurai highway in Sivarakottai near Tirumangalam.

Kanagavel, a resident of Villapuram, was returning from a temple visit in Thalavaipuram with his family. Meanwhile, Manikandam was driving his vehicle on the four-lane road when he lost control and collided with the two-wheeler.

The force of the impact caused the vehicle to spin across the Eight-lane road, crossing the median and ending up on the opposite side of the road. Kanagavel, his wife Krishnakumari, along with their relatives Nagajothhi and an eight-year-old girl, as well as the two-wheeler rider Pandi, tragically lost their lives instantly.

Authorities from the Kallakurichi Police have launched an investigation into the incident. The CCTV footage capturing the tragic accident has since circulated widely.

The footage of the incident was so hearth pounding that it suddenly went viral after being posted and started attracting mixed reactions on the microblogging platform – X.

A user on X, Walter White commented that the devastating accident on the Virudhunagar-Madurai highway near Tirumangalam is deeply distressing. My sincere condolences go out to the families of the victims who lost their lives in this tragedy. Road safety continues to be a pressing concern, underscoring the importance of raising awareness and following traffic rules rigorously to avert such heartbreaking incidents in the future.

Amit Kumar, another user stated that it appears that some individuals have become reckless, driving at speeds of 130-140 km/h. Even the drivers themselves seem to disregard their own safety.
