Mumbai: The shooting of actor Vicky Kaushal’s upcoming film ‘Sam Bahadur’ wrapped up on Tuesday. Taking to Instagram, Vicky shared a new still from the sets of the film on his stories, which he captioned, “It’s a film wrap!! Sam Bahadur 1-12-23.”
In the picture, Vicky can be seen dressed as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw and sitting on the bonnet of a car, with director Meghna Gulzar standing in front of him. Directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala (RSVP), ‘Sam Bahadur’ is the story of India’s war hero and first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, also starring Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh in pivotal roles. While Sanya will play the role of Sam Manekshaw’s wife Sillu, Fathima will be seen as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film is all set to hit the theaters on December 1, 2023.
Talking about the film, Vicky said, “I am fortunate to play a real-life hero and patriot, who is still remembered and loved for his contribution to our country. A There is so much to learn and take back as an actor.” With all the preparation and hard work put in by the entire team, I am sure the viewers will be thrilled to watch Sam’s mesmerizing journey to create the India of today.”
Earlier, Vicky released the first teaser of his film on social media and wrote, “365 Days to Go… Sam Bahadur in cinemas 1.12.2023.” The makers also released the first teaser announcing the release date on Twitter.
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film also stars Neeraj Kabi, Edward Sonnenblick, Richard Bhakti Klein, Saqib Ayub and Krishan Kant Singh Bundela.
Earlier in October, after the team completed a schedule, Vicky shared pictures from the film’s shoot at an outdoor location. “With this, we wrap up the first outdoor schedule of Sam Bahadur,” director Meghna had said in the video, while Vicky added, “It’s a schedule wrap.”
Earlier this year, as he began prepping for the biopic, Vicky met Jehan, the grandson of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. Vicky had announced the film Sam Bahadur on the 106th birth anniversary of Sam Manekshaw. Sharing a video sung by lyricist Gulzar, he wrote on social media: “The man. The legend. Brave heart. Our Sam Bahadur… On Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw’s birth anniversary, his story gets its name.” Sam Bahadur.
Meanwhile, Vicky will next be seen in director Laxman Utekar’s next romantic comedy opposite Sara Ali Khan and in a yet-to-be-titled film opposite Tripti Dimri.
The Vicky-starrer is a co-production of Prime Video along with Dharma Productions and Leo Media Collective. It is considered to be an eclectic mix of drama, emotions and comedy.
