This holiday season, VGP Marine Kingdom is proud to present “Santa and the Mermaid”, the underwater stage ready for a never-before-seen performance. Follow along on this nail-biting adventure with the help of the cute mermaid and some of her smart friends.
From 22 December, the exhibits will take place at VGP Marine Kingdom, India’s first underwater tunnel aquarium. The Walkthrough Tunnel Aquarium mimics many of the ecosystems of our environment and is home to over 1000 exotic fish, sharks and rays. Past shows have included Hydro Man, Scuba Ganesha and Scuba Santa. The location has also been hired for the shooting of many films.
Commenting on the show, VGP Ravidas, MD, VGP Marine Kingdom said, “With this unique aquarium, we are trying to introduce the concept of education to India. Aquariums are a teaching to cater to young children. Equipped with laboratory and classrooms.And, this holiday season if people visit the aquarium it will be a one of a kind trip. We have always planned to provide an immersive experience to our visitors in the underwater world. We Hope people enjoy this season with their loved ones and come back again and make memories.”
The 70-metre Acrylic Tunnel Aquarium is the first of its kind in India, housing both freshwater and marine life from the Indian mainland and the Indian Ocean. Sharks, rays and other marine species can be found in the aquarium, which also serves as a haven for marine species from the Indonesian and Malaysian oceans.
The five areas of the aquarium showcase different marine ecosystems such as rainforest, canyon, mangrove, coastal and deep sea. Additionally there are 35 more acrylic display tanks, some of which are cylindrical. In addition to providing entertainment, the aquarium allows visitors to view aquatic animals in their native habitat and promotes marine awareness.
