Veteran R Ashwin back in playing XI for India vs England 3rd Test? Here’s what Virat Kohli revealed

New Delhi: The much-awaited India vs England, third Test is scheduled to take place at Headingley in Leeds from Wednesday. While England will be aiming to win their first Test in the series, Team India, who have taken a 1-0 lead after the first two Tests, will try not to lose their winning streak and lead 2-0.

Ahead of the India vs England third Test at Headingley, Virat Kohli made a very interesting statement during the press conference about the inclusion of veteran R Ashwin in the playing XI.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Kohli said, “We have no reason to change anything unless people are troubled, which we haven’t faced since finishing the last Test.”

“Obviously, you don’t want to disturb or disrupt the winning combination, especially if the team has taken such an incredible win in the second Test and is even more excited to get on the field again,” Kohli said.

Kohli, however, said before taking a final call on Ashwin, he would assess the pitch to see how it would help the spinners on the fourth and fifth days.

“As far as Ashwin’s play is concerned, we are quite surprised to see the way the pitch is looking. We could see a lot of surface, which I honestly didn’t expect. I felt a lot of grass on the pitch. It will be more spicy and lively. But it will not happen,” Kohli said.

Virat Kohli also said that he is not in favor of tinkering with the team combination (four fast bowlers and one spinner all-rounder) which won the last Test.

“So anything is possible. We always name 12 and then on that day we look at the pitch and what can happen on the third day and the fourth day and accordingly we will go with the right combination,” Kohli said.

If Ashwin comes, he can come for Ravindra Jadeja.
