Veteran England pacer Anya Shrubsole, star of 2017 World Cup final against India, announces retirement

Shrubsole took 6/46 against India in the World Cup final, which is the best figure of his career.

Two-time Women’s World Cup-winning veteran England pacer Annie Shrubsole on Thursday decided to retire after a 14-year international career. Known for her quick inswinger, the 30-year-old played eight Tests, 86 ODIs and 79 T20Is, taking 19, 106 and 102 wickets respectively.

Shrubsole took six for 46, which is his career-best figure against India in the World Cup final against India five years ago.

She was also part of the winning team of 2009 and was recently part of the team which lost to Australia in the final earlier this month.

“I am extremely honored to be able to represent my country for the last 14 years. It is an honor to be involved in women’s cricket at a time of such development but it has become clear to me that this is not the first time.” Moving on faster than I can live together, so it’s time for me to move away,” she said in a statement.
