Veteran actress Chitra passes away, Prithviraj Sukumaran mourns

Veteran actress Chitra, known for her work in Malayalam cinema, passed away on Saturday at the age of 56. As per reports, the actress suffered a cardiac arrest in Saligramam, Chennai. His last rites will be held at 4 pm today. Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran expressed his condolences on his Instagram account on Saturday. Sharing a picture of the yesteryear actress, she wrote: “Rest in peace.”

The actress, popularly known as “Nallanai” Chitra, acted in over 100 Tamil and Malayalam films.

In 1982, the actor appeared in a Hindi film titled Razia and later became a part of the 1984 film Ek Nayi Paheli. The actress K. Balachander made his acting debut with the Tamil film “Apoorva Raagangal”. He eventually made his debut as an adult in the Malayalam film “Attakalasam” with the actor in 1983. Mohan Lal.

Chitra acted in other hit Malayalam plays, including Adavitam, Eklavyan, Devasuram, Nadodi, Commissioner, Aaram Thampuran and Ustad.

Chitra is survived by husband Vijayaraghavan and daughter Mahalakshmi.
