Venkatesh Daggubati turns 61: How MBA from America became a Tollywood legend

Telugu actor Daggubati Venkatesh, popularly known as Venkatesh, has a massive fan following. Due to the huge commercial success of his films, he has been awarded the honorary title of ‘Vijay Venkatesh’. He is celebrating his 61st birthday today. Apart from being an actor, he is a successful producer and has worked in the Celebrity Cricket League as a mentor to the Telugu cinema team, Telugu Warriors. He has been in the entertainment industry for more than 30 years.

Venkatesh completed his schooling in Don Bosco, Chennai. He completed his graduation in commerce from Loyola College, Chennai. He holds an MBA degree from Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, USA. After returning to India from America, he wanted to get into film production, but instead, became an actor in Telugu films.

In 1986, Venkatesh joined K. Raghavendra Rao directed Kaliyuga Pandavulu for which he won his first Nandi Award which recognizes excellence in Telugu Cinema, Telugu Theater and Lifetime Achievements in Telugu Television and Indian Cinema. Later, he Played the lead role in the award-winning Swarnakalam (1988) directed by Vishwanath. He also starred in the musical romance film Prema (1989).

In a career spanning over 30 years, he established himself as a leading actor in Telugu films. He acted in many successful films such as Bobbili Raja, Chanti, Intalo Illalu Vantintalo Priuralu, Preminchukundam Ra, Suryavansham, Premante Idera, Raja, Kalisundam Ra, Jayam Mandera, Sankranti, Lakshmi, Adavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule, Ganesh, Seethmal F2 Drushyam, and : fun and frustration.

His upcoming movies include F3 and Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali. She later returned to Bollywood after 25 years with Salman Khan.

Venkatesh is married to Neerja Daggubati, and the couple has 4 children – three daughters and a son. Actors Rana Daggubati and Naga Chaitanya are his nephews. He has a good bonding with both.
