Vijay’s Warisu clashed with Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu at the box office. On its opening day, Thunivu dominated the box office figures. Talking about the box office report, the film has managed to retain its place at the box office despite getting tough competition from Vijay’s emotional drama. Thunivu has also joined the 100 crore club in India.
Additionally, the release of Warisu’s Telugu counterpart, Warsudu, has also boosted the film’s box office collections, and Telugu-speaking states have also given the film high praise. As Waarisu is doing well at the box office, its makers have crowned it the Pongal winner.
Warisu, which is a family drama/action thriller, Vijay plays a young man who comes back to help his family during a challenging period, while a competing firm is trying to harm them. The film is the first Tamil language film made by Telugu filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally. The film was released on 11 January. Prakash Raj is also a part of the film along with Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna. Varisu is doing well in both Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Friday saw the Hindi release of the film, which has attracted a massive audience from the north.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has told that the Hindi version has received amazing response from the fans. It has collected 3.88 crores in the first weekend.
Vijay was last seen in Beast alongside Pooja Hegde. As per the official synopsis, the plot revolves around Veera Raghavan, played by Vijay, who is “abducted in a shopping mall in Chennai by terrorists who took visitors hostage.” Veera Raghavan then decides to rescue the hostages by eliminating the terrorists.
