Thalapathy Vijay’s Varisu and Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu first day BO report
Thalapathy Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Warisu released in theaters on the same day as Ajith Kumar’s actioner Thunivu, and the first day BO collection reports are in.
Thalapathy Vijay starrer Vaarisu and Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu has taken the matinee theaters by storm. Both the films hit the big screens on Wednesday, January 11. As per the early box office trends, the films have got a bumper opening. According to Pinkvilla, the occupancy of Warisu and Thunivu was in the range of 85-90 per cent on the opening day. Looks like the occupancy didn’t drop at all as the theaters looked houseful.
How much did the movies earn?
If reports are to be believed, it was Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu that took the lead in Tamil Nadu. It is estimated that the opening-day collection of the actioner is in the range of Rs. 18.50 to Rs. 20.50 crores. However, Thalapathy Vijay’s Varisu is marginally catching Thunivu with gross collections between Rs. 17 to Rs. 19 crores. The reason behind Thunivu’s lead has been suggested to be the capture of better screens across the state.
Notably, outside Tamil Nadu, Vijay’s heirs have made inroads. The figures appear to range from Rs.8.50 to Rs. 9 crores. Kumar’s Thunivu is catching pace with its collection trend of around Rs 8 to Rs 10. 8.50 crores. If the numbers are anything to go by, it is clear that both the films have given each other a tough fight on the silver screen, and the numbers are predicted to rise over the opening weekend.
Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu is directed by H Vinoth and directed by Boney Kapoor. Apart from Kumar, it stars Manju Warrier, Samuthirakani and Pawan Reddy in pivotal roles in the film. The film’s plot follows the life of a gangster who plans to rob one of China’s largest banks. However, while carrying out the plan, he learns that another mysterious gangster has already proceeded to hijack the bank.
Meanwhile, Vaarisu, helmed by Vamshi Paidipally, features Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead opposite Thalapathy Vijay. The film is the story of a man whose life changes after the unexpected demise of his foster father. It is a commercial entertainer where Hero manages to fix problems for everyone in his family.
