Vaccination in eight villages of Kalyan Karnataka | Hubli News – Times of India

The health department said the entire target population of around 12,000 in eight villages in Ballari and Vijayanagar districts have been fully vaccinated (both doses), making these villages the first in Kalyan Karnataka to achieve the feat.
Hagribommanahalli taluk (BG Halli, in three villages) said officials Shivanand Nagar, Military Byalu Pradesh), in two each Harapanahalli (Shankarhalli, Udayapur) and huvinahdgali (Arhalli Tanda, Hosalli) and Sandur in Devigiri taluk have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
“The objective was achieved with the support and constant review and inspiration of local elected representatives,” Dr. H L Janardhan, District Health Officer, Ballari. “Our staff and Anganwadi and ASHA workers put in a lot of effort to achieve this milestone. Within a few months, we will give both the doses to the entire eligible population of the district.”
Local health officials say that although there was not much hesitation in the vaccine, they did door-to-door campaigns and regular follow-ups.
“Initially, some people in our village were afraid of the vaccine due to rumours, but we spoke to them and allayed their concerns. They quickly became convinced of the benefits of vaccination,” said a gram panchayat member from Arahalli. He said the village was badly affected during the second wave.
Gadilingappa Motegar The resident of Devigiri said that there was no hesitation in his village as most of the residents were aware of the importance of the vaccine. “Lol health department officials also put in a lot of effort to complete the campaign,” he said.
