On the first day of immunization for people aged 15 to 18, over 4 million adolescents across the country got the COVID vaccine today. Till now, only Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin is used for immunization of children. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya shared the date of vaccination till 8 PM tonight.

Here’s how teens got vaccinated for Covid across the country

  1. From setting up flashy selfie points to putting up imaginative posters and colorful balloons, designated vaccination centres, mostly schools and educational institutions, were set up to welcome the youth.
  2. In UP, over 1.50 lakh children were given a dose of the vaccine. Earlier in the day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the vaccination drive for children at the state capital’s Civil Hospital and expressed satisfaction over the response of eligible beneficiaries. In Noida’s Gautam Buddh Nagar, more than 3,000 teenagers took the job for the first time.
  3. Over 4.94 lakh children in the age group of 15-18 years were given the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Gujarat. The state government aims to vaccinate around 36 lakh beneficiaries in the age group of 15-18 with the first dose in seven days.
  4. On the first day of the vaccination campaign of this group of beneficiaries, more than 20,900 children of Delhi in the age group of 15 to 18 years received a dose of Kovid vaccine.
  5. In Lakshadweep, more than 3,000 adolescents were vaccinated against COVID today. Administrator Praful Patel started the campaign at Government Girls Senior Secondary School Kavaratti in the presence of senior officers of the Union Territory Administration.
  6. On 25 December, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the inclusion of 15 to 18 age group in the nationwide COVID vaccination program from 3 January.
  7. After the process started on January 1, till 8.30 pm on Monday, more than 51 lakh youth had registered on the Co-Win portal. There are an estimated 7.4 crore children in this age group.
  8. Children, some in school uniforms and some in casuals, were greeted with flowers and after receiving vaccinations, pens and food items were presented at some places.
