Vaani Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, and Aparshakti Khurrana are teaming up for a family dramedy. Written and directed by Navjot Gulati, the yet-to-be-titled film will be produced under the banners ‘Nicky Vicky Bhagnani Films’ with Ankur Takrani.
Family dramedies are a popular blend of drama and comedy that reflect on the importance of family, with some light-hearted humour and serious dramatic moments. This genre serves as a roller coaster of emotions for viewers as they laugh one minute and cry the next. Currently, the family dramedy genre is ruling the market and has created a stir in Bollywood. From record-breaking films like Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani to Satyaprem Ki Katha, these genre films are gaining momentum in the Hindi entertainment industry.
The directors are brainstorming their minds to set up the storyline against the backdrop of families, with a touch of drama and comedy. And it seems like many more family dramedy are in the making after the entertainment news portal Pinkvilla reported that Vaani Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, and Aparshakti Khurrana are teaming up for a family dramedy written and directed by Navjot Gulati.
As per a report by Pinkvilla, a source close to the development stated that the yet-to-be-titled film will be produced under the banners ‘Nicky Vicky Bhagnani Films’ with Ankur Takrani. Elaborating further, the source revealed, “It’s a family dramedy set against the backdrop of dysfunctional relationships in modern times. The makers were keen to get a cast of credible actors on board to spearhead the project and it was an instant yes from the trio of Vaani Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, and Aparshakti Khurrana. The film will take off soon with a marathon start-to-finish schedule in London.”
The source added that Vaani and Aparshakti will play the roles of siblings in the film and bring an interesting dynamic to the arc of the story. Paresh Rawal, like always, has an author-backed role in this family dramedy.
On the professional front, Vaani Kapoor will soon share screen space with Ajay Devgn in Raid 2, directed by Rajkumar Gupta. The sequel to the 2018 hit film Raid is all set to grace the silver screens on November 15, 2024.
Paresh Rawal, on the other hand, will be seen in three back-to-back comic franchises that will make the audience ROFL. The actor has Hera Pheri 3 with the kings of comedy, Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty. He also has Awara Pagal Deewana 2 and Welcome to the Jungle in the pipeline.
Aparshakti Khurrana has Stree 2 alongside Tamannaah Bhatia, Rajkummar Rao, and Shraddha Kapoor on his plate. He will also be sharing the screen with Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Ayushmann Khurrana in Vampires of Vijay Nagar, which is scheduled to release in 2025.
