Uttarakhand’s ‘responsible’ CM residence continues as myth CM Dhami loses seat to Congress

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami lost to the Congress after leading the BJP with a majority in the state. BJP’s victory in Uttarakhand has intensified when its Chief Minister could not secure his seat with his consistency. Political pundits claim that Dhami’s defeat continues to repeat the myth behind Uttarakhand’s ‘false’ CM residence.

It is believed that whoever stays in the official CM residence of Uttarakhand, loses his seat in the next term. Dhami had performed ‘pujas’, ‘cleansing rituals’ and ‘vastu reforms’ from priests before moving to his new official residence. However, the corrective measures have not worked for Dhami as he lost the election and is unlikely to return as CM despite his party winning the state.

Dhami’s predecessor Tirath Singh Rawat, who had the shortest tenure as chief minister, avoided the residence. A major “Vastu defect” was corrected by covering the swimming pool inside the complex before the entry of former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat in 2017.

The three chief ministers who decided to remain in the house were prematurely removed. The Chief Ministers who had to leave the house include Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Vijay Bahuguna and Trivendra Singh Rawat.

After the hat-trick, it was believed that this house had brought bad luck to the former Chief Ministers.

The myth was so strong that Harish Rawat and Tirath Singh Rawat decided against staying at the official residence, however, the tenure of these two chief ministers could not go smoothly even in the top office.

The bungalow was constructed for Rs 16 crore and has eight king-sized bedrooms, a few living rooms, a spacious hall and ample space for official functions. The bungalow is built on 10 acres on New Cantonment Road.

In contrast, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has broken the stigma attached to Noida. Earlier there was a saying that any Chief Minister who goes to Noida or builds an expressway never comes to power in the state. UP CM Yogi Adityanath who is set to return has not only visited Noida but also built a flyover.
