Uttarakhand Will Be ‘Spiritual Capital’ For Hindus, Col Ajay Kothiyal CM Faces: Kejriwal Eyes Hill State

Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal sounded the poll bugle for next year’s Uttarakhand elections, announcing Colonel Ajay Kothiyal as the party’s chief ministerial face in the hill state.

Col Kothiyal, a veteran of the Indian Army and former principal of the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) in Uttarkashi, had joined AAP on April 20 this year.

Delhi Deputy CM and AAP leader Manish Sisodia, who was earlier in Uttarakhand, said that the people of the state want honest leaders like Kothiyal. He said, ‘In front of the people of Uttarakhand on one side is the corrupt Chief Minister of BJP. At the same time, a staunch patriot Colonel Ajay Kothiyal. I ask voters – should a person like Colonel Kothiyal be the future Chief Minister of Uttarakhand or a corrupt BJP leader? Sisodia said.

Kejriwal, who is on a visit to Uttarakhand, also said that Uttarakhand will be developed as a “spiritual capital” for Hindus across the world.

Earlier, the Delhi CM had promised 300 units of free electricity, free electricity for farmers, waiver of old bills and 24-hour power supply to woo people in the state. Talking about repeating AAP’s Delhi model of governance in Uttarakhand, Kejriwal had said that if the party comes to power, it will bring about major changes in schools and health infrastructure. He said, ‘Here our leaders are talking to the youth, within a month or so, we will make a big announcement of employment for the youth of the state.’

With less than a year left for the next assembly elections in Uttarakhand, the Aam Aadmi Party is aggressively gearing up for the 2022 elections. In the last eight to nine months, it has been attacking the ruling BJP on various issues including corruption, unemployment. and health through various political events and on social media.
