According to the police, all the deceased were tourists, while one girl has been rescued. Kumaon Range DIG Nilesh Anand Bharan said that due to rain this morning, the vehicle got washed away amidst the strong flow of water.

The nine tourists were from Punjab and drowned when their car fell into the Dhela river on Friday (July 8) morning. Police said four bodies have been recovered, while five are still trapped in the car.

A 22-year-old woman named Nazia was rescued alive from the car. He has been sent to Ramnagar Hospital.

Efforts are on to retrieve the rest of the bodies. More information in this regard is awaited.
