Uttarakhand Government Announces Free Electricity Scheme Ahead of Assembly Elections; Description
The Uttarakhand government has announced a scheme to provide free electricity to the people of the state. According to State Energy Minister Harak S Rawat, those consuming 100 units of electricity per month will be given free electricity. They don’t have to pay any bills. About 13 lakh consumers will benefit from this decision.
The government will give 50 percent discount on the bill to consumers using 101 to 200 units per month.
The announcement has been made a few months ahead of the assembly elections in the state when the ruling BJP will try to retain power.
