Uttarakhand assembly polls: 35.21% voter turnout till 1pm; CM Dhami, governor cast vote | Dehradun News – Times of India

DEHRADUN: Amid tight security arrangements, polling is under way on all 70 seats in the 13 districts of Uttarakhand,
Till 1pm, the hill state recorded a 35.21% voter turnout, said Soujanya, chief electoral officer (CEO).
So far, Uttarkashi district has recorded highest 40.12% voter turnout, followed by 38.83% in Haridwar, 37.41% in Nainital, 37.17% in Udham Singh Nagar district and 34.45% in Dehradun.
Meanwhile, Pithoragarh witnessed the lowest voter turnout till 1pm at 29.68%.
Soujanya said, “Polling is going on peacefully. Forces are deployed at all booths. All polling parties had reached safely last night. The weather is also clear.”
Earlier in the day, Uttarakhand governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (retired) cast his vote and urged all voters to exercise their franchise and ensure a 100% turnout.
After offering prayers at his residence, outgoing chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami voted along with his family in his constituency, Khatima.
Congress leader Harish Rawat also visited a temple at Lalkuan and offered prayers on the polling day.
