Pratapgarh: A 20-year-old woman was allegedly raped inside a public toilet near parking stand Pratapgarh Railway Station, police said on Sunday. The incident happened on March 19, he said, adding that an FIR has been registered in this regard.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Kotwali Police Station RN Rai He said the victim was waiting to catch the train with her husband when the incident happened.
“The husband had gone to buy tea in the morning leaving the woman alone. Then the accused, identified as Anna, approached the woman and gave her a key, stating that he could use it to access a clean toilet located near the parking lot. Stand outside. When the woman entered the toilet, the accused raped her.”
After the incident the accused fled from the spot. The husband rescued the wife and informed the police.
“Based on the complaint lodged by the woman, we have registered an FIR of rape (Section 376 IPC) against the accused. Two teams have been deployed to trace and arrest the accused,” the SHO said.
