VARANASI: At least 14 coaches of a goods train going from Lucknow to Varanasi derailed Shri Krishna Nagar in railway station Jaunpur Train traffic blocked on district, Lucknow-Varanasi route at 7.57 am on Thursday Sultanpur, Railway officials told TOI that hectic efforts were being made to repair the tracks, remove the damaged bodies and restore rail traffic, with no injuries or casualties reported in the incident.

“After the derailment, several trains including the Delhi-Varanasi Mahamana Express were stopped at various railway stations,” said Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Northern Railway (Varanasi). Ravi Chaturvedi on Thursday.
He said, “DRM NR Lucknow Suresh Kumar Sapra And other senior officials had reached the spot, where the work of clearing the tracks to restore train movement was started.”
The goods train with 59 empty bogies had left for Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction Yard via Sultanpur, Jaunpur and Varanasi. While walking between Udaipur Ghatampur The derailment, likely at 7.57 a.m. at Shri Krishna Nagar railway station in Badlapur area of Jaunpur district, is suspected to be due to damage to the railway track, officials said.
Officials said the actual reason behind the derailment would be clear after a proper investigation.
As soon as the coaches of this train started colliding with each other while derailing, hundreds of local people gathered near the spot. Staff at Shri Krishna Nagar station informed the immediate neighboring stations and senior officials about the incident, following which all trains running on the Lucknow-Sultanpur-Varanasi line were stopped at different railway stations.
The Delhi-Varanasi Mahamana Express was also stopped near Sultanpur, its passengers were served breakfast and the train was diverted to reach Varanasi on Pratapgarh route, officials said.
Another train, 04264 Varanasi-Sultanpur was terminated while 04263 SLN-BSB was short terminated, officials said, 02301 Shramjeevi Express and 045333 Barauni-Ambala Cantt Harihar Express, 04007 Raxaul-Anand Vihar Terminal and 02237 Begumpura. Was on the express up line. Diverted on Pratapgarh road.
Several down line trains including festival special trains were also diverted on Pratapgarh route.
Chaturvedi said that the process of derailing the derailed bogies and restoring the damaged tracks has been started. However, officials could not confirm when the process of restoration of the tracks would be completed to normalize train movement on the Varanasi-Sultan-Lucknow route.
