PRAYAGRAJ: Kicking off her first public rally this poll season, former Kannauj MP Dimple Yadav attacked the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party over their “double-engine government” claim pointing out that one of the engines seems to have got rusted and the time has come to remove the “jung wala engine” (rusted engine)”. In her address SP MP Jay Bhaduri Bachchan also attacked the UP CM for accusing the erstwhile SP of poor handling of crime against women.
Dimple Yadav along with Jaya Bachchan was at Sirathu on Friday to campaign for the Samajwadi Party and Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) alliance candidate Pallavi Patel who is pitted against deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya as BJP candidate.
Seeking votes for Pallavi Patel, Dimple tried to strike an emotional chord with the crowd introducing Pallavi Patel as Sirathu ki Bahu, Jaya Bachchan as Allahabd ki Bahu and herself as UP ki Bahu. “Sirathu mein teen bahuon ka sanagm hua hai (Three daughter-in-laws have come together in Sirathu),” she said. In an apparent reference to Maurya Dimple went on to say that the ‘son of Sirathu has cheated the people’ so now they should give a chance to the Bahu.
Attacking UP CM, Dimple said the BJP talks of double engine government but one of the two engines have got rusted and it was time to remove the rusted one. “The color of rust is similar to the shade of attire that the chief minister wears and the rust has to be removed” Dimple said.
Showcasing SP’s manifesto promises for women, former Kannauj MP said Rs 1500 monthly pension for poor women, 33% job reservation for women, Rs 36,000 to girls passing out of class 12 and 3 free gas cylinders to each household every year will be a reality once SP is voted to power 2022 assembly polls.
Dimple also attacked the government over its claims of providing security to women. “People of the state have not forgotten the daughters of Hathras and Unnao. In Hathras, the family members were not even given the opportunity to accord last rites of their daughter as per Hindu traditions. People have not forgotten that,” she said.
Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan too targeted the ruling BJP for all its claims of security to women. I have been in the parliament for the last 15 years. Never did they talk about crime against women when they (BJP) were in the opposition. Now he (CM) talks of having ensured the security of women…” Jaya Bachchan said.”When Amit ji was contesting election from Allahabad (now Prayagraj), then I had sought votes for my honour. Now, I have come again to seek votes for Pallavi Patel and appealed to the masses to keep her honor,” she said.
