Gorakhpur : North Eastern Railway (NER) has generated revenue of around Rs 70 lakh in the last 4 months and saved Rs. About 21 crores in the financial year 2020-21, CPRO bottomhandjob Pankaj Kumar Singh said.
“With electrification, the consumption of imported diesel has come down, leading to considerable foreign exchange savings. This also resulted in reduction of operating costs, increased sectional capacity by eliminating blockages due to traction changes, and reduced operating and maintenance costs of electric locomotives. The indirect benefit is making it a more eco-friendly mode of transport,” said CPRO NER Pankaj Kumar Singh.
“Electric trains are running with Head on Generation (HOG), which has led to reduction in the use of power cars and cost savings of diesel up to Rs. Around 21 crore in the financial year 2020-21,” he said.
“17 NER trains are running with one LSLRD extra coach in place of one power car and other HOG compliant trains are also being run with LSLRD coach in place of one power car. With this initiative, NER earned around Rs 70 lakh in the last 4 months, even after the release pandemic pandemic And most importantly, 31 more passengers can travel with the same arrangement,” the CPRO said.
