LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh on Monday crossed another milestone in COVID-19 vaccination by giving a total of over 16 crore doses. With this, more than 76 per cent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of the COVID vaccine, while 33 per cent have been fully vaccinated. It took 10.5 months for the state to reach this figure with the introduction of immunization in the state on January 16, 2021.

Boundless Mohan Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) said that in light of the new emergency omicron type of virus, the government was stepping up its efforts to vaccinate people. ASHA and Anganwadi workers were tasked with conducting door-to-door awareness campaigns, during which they are meant to dispel myths about the vaccine and motivate people to take the shot.
The official said that since the detection of the new variant had spread to more than 12 countries, COVID testing was being conducted at airports and instructions were issued to all district administrations to remain extremely vigilant and vigilant.
On Sunday, the government tested 1,24,647 samples for Covid-19 and where five tested positive, nine were declared free of the disease. “There are 86 active cases in the state at present, out of which 67 are in home isolation. Out of the total samples tested on Sunday, 59,869 were RTPCR tests,” he said.
Five new cases were reported from four districts, of which two were from state capital Lucknow, which now has 15 active cases.
