Kanpur: A seven-year-old boy, Sangam, died after a major portion of a pillar of a gate collapsed at the Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) center in Mahoba district on Thursday.
The incident took place around 11 am during the ongoing Kovid-19 vaccination campaign in Indra Hata village of Ajnar police station in Mahoba district, in which Sangam’s mother Sheela along with her son had gone to an ANM center in Mahoba district for vaccination.
As the news of the child’s death spread, there was chaos in the ANM center. By the time the rescue operation was launched, the victim had succumbed to his injuries.
Angry over the boy’s death, the family members and local people blocked the road outside the ANM centre.
On learning about the incident, SDM Kulpahar Suthan Abdullah and CO Tej Bahadur Singh reached the spot and pacified the boy’s agitated family members and got the jam opened.
After this, the police took the body in their possession and sent it for post-mortem. “Sangam’s mother is said to have received the second dose of the Kovid vaccine. Sangam was the youngest of three children. Police station in-charge Ajnar Abhimanyu Yadav said that we have assured the recommendation to release necessary compensation to the parents of the victims.
