LUCKNOW: The two-week election blitzkrieg for the nine assembly constituencies in the state capital came to end on Monday evening.
From roadshows to public meetings and door-to-door campaigns, the final day of electioneering witnessed major political parties going full throttle with all guns blazing.
A battery of BJP leaders, including star campaigners UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma, UP BJP president Swatantra Dev Singh and Pankaj Singh, who is seeking re-election from Noida, held public meetings, roadshows and mass contact programs for party candidates. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia too came down to Lucknow to campaign for AAP candidates.
Congress general secretary and UP incharge Priyanka Gandhi carried out the campaign single-handedly with a roadshow and several public meetings. SP president Akhilesh Yadav’s wife Dimple Yadav campaigned for party Sarojininagar candidate Abhieshk Mishra.
Former vice-chancellor of Lucknow University and prominent social activist Roop Rekha Verma campaigned for Puja Shukla, SP’s young candidate from Lucknow North. SP Lucknow west nominee Armaan Khan conducted a road show with women supporters in hijab leading it on bikes.
A special prayer was offered by the supporters of BJP candidate from Lucknow Cantonment Brajesh Pathakin Chandarnagar Gurudwara. BJP candidate from Lucknow East and urban development minister Ashutosh Tandon held a roadshow in Dandahiya market. Dinesh Sharma led the roadshows for BJP’s Lucknow West candidate Anjani Srivastava and Lucknow Central candidate Rajnish Gupta.
Congress candidate from Lucknow East, Manoj Tiwari also conducted a roadshow in Lucknow East constituency.
