Jhansi: With all 2,447 villagers receiving their first jab, Nota village in Jhansi’s Bangra block on Tuesday became the first village in the district to have every resident partially vaccinated against COVID-19.
Nota village with a total population of 4,523 houses 773 families, of which 2,447 are above 18. Of the 2,447 adults, 1,457 are in the age group of 18 to 44 and 990 are above 44 years of age. Furthermore, out of 2,447 adults, 966 are females, and the rest 1,481 are males.

Talking to TOI, Jhansi DM Andra Vamsi said, “It is a great achievement that not a single dose of vaccine received by the gram panchayat remained unutilized. In the initial period, there were many misconceptions, hesitations and fears among the villagers regarding vaccination.

“The Village Monitoring Committee constituted by the district administration conducted programs to allay the fear of the villagers by spreading public awareness. We had also involved FPOs, Self Help Groups and other voluntary organizations to carry out these awareness programmes.

Vamsi thanked the monitoring committee, ASHA, ANM and Anganwadi workers, other voluntary organizations and villagers who showed their courage and willingness to vaccinate.
