National Stock Exchange of India Managing Director and CEO Ashish Kumar Chauhan on Monday encouraged management students to use both modern and traditional knowledge to find innovative solutions to social challenges.

Addressing the 12th Convocation of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur as the Chief Guest, he highlighted India’s achievements in the challenging pandemic times and exhorted students to create the same level of resilience and proficiency in their corporate journey Did.

“…in ancient India, we had universities like Nalanda and Takshashila, which established themselves as international centers of educational excellence, where students from all over the world came to learn. Generation after generation, Indians have accumulated a rich heritage of traditional knowledge. We have also learned from other cultures..’ Chauhan said.

“I would encourage graduating students to use both modern and traditional knowledge to reach innovative solutions to some of our societal challenges,” he added.

He said that the country can achieve development only with the excellent contribution of intelligent, well qualified and professionally committed workforce.

Appreciating India’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NSE chief said, “India with a per capita GDP of around $2,400 per capita should not have done well during Covid. Despite all the dire predictions, India did well compared to many other countries which had higher per capita GDP…” “..during the same period we got a small attack on the Northeast by our neighbor (referring to China) And had to fight off unnecessary aggression. Border on its own…,” he said.

He said that we should be grateful to our government for providing us all facilities including medicines, vaccines and free ration during the pandemic.

He also talked about the steps India has taken towards making ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and urged the audience to imbibe this in thoughts, words and deeds.

Speaking on the occasion, Shyamala Gopinath, Board of Governors, IIM Raipur, advised the graduating students to have a strong work ethic as they move forward.
