US CDC study shows people who are fully vaccinated are 11 times less likely to die from COVID

New Delhi: With immunization campaigning globally, here’s a new study that sheds light on those who are fully vaccinated, suggesting they are 11 times less likely to die from COVID and stay in the hospital than those who are not vaccinated. 10 times less likely to be admitted.

The findings are drawn from one of three new papers published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and shared by US health officials. According to the AFP news agency, the studies have focused on the effectiveness of COVID vaccines against serious consequences at a time when the highly infectious delta has emerged as the most common variant.

According to estimates from our world statistics, approximately 41.5 percent of the world’s population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

What are the conclusions?

One of the studies suggests that Moderna’s vaccine offered a slightly higher level of protection in the delta period. However, the reasons are not yet well understood. The study comes after President Joe Biden came up with an aggressive new vaccination plan that asked companies employing more than 100 people to either vaccinate their workers or test weekly.

In a press briefing, CDC Director Rochelle Valensky said studies have shown that vaccination works. The first study focused on cases in 13 US jurisdictions from April 4 to June 19, the period before Delta was in effect, and compared them from June 20 – July 17.

It turned out that between these periods, a vaccinated person’s risk of covid infection increased slightly: 11 times less likely to be infected compared to an uninfected person to five times less likely.

Hospitalization effectiveness was highest for Moderna at 95 percent; Pfizer at 80 percent; And finally Johnson & Johnson at 60 percent, according to the Fold report. The overall efficacy against hospitalization was 86 percent for all age groups but fell to 76 percent for those over 75.

While protection against hospitalization and death was found to be more stable, people aged 65 and over decreased compared to those in the younger age group.

Both the CDC and the Food and Drug Administration are considering alternatives to booster shots, and it’s likely that the elderly will be the first to receive them when the Biden administration begins rolling them out later in September.
