Russia offers oil to India at huge discount

Russia is giving its crude oil to India at a huge discount. It is offering India $35 a barrel due to the Ukraine-Russia war. India imports 80 per cent of its crude oil requirement. In 2021, the country bought 12 million barrels of oil from Russia, which is only 2 percent of the total requirement. This comes amid a rise in oil prices in the country. Buying oil at a lower price will keep domestic petroleum prices under control and inflation will remain under control. Apart from this, the prices of petrol and diesel have been increased for the 11th time in the last 13 days.

Punjab demands immediate transfer of Chandigarh

The Punjab State Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution to transfer the Union Territory of Chandigarh to the state immediately. At present, it is the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann introduced the resolution in the state assembly. Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), AAP, BSP supported the resolution. BJP MLA Ashwini Sharma opposed the proposal and later walked out of the assembly in protest.

No-confidence motion against Pak PM

Pakistani opposition legislators had earlier moved a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan in Parliament. The move was taken to demand the removal of the Khan government amid allegations of mismanagement of the country’s economy. A special bench was constituted by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to investigate the matter. On Saturday, the no-confidence motion against PM Khan was rejected by National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan.

The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is starting from March 26 this time with 12 teams. Usually 10 teams are included every year but this time two teams have been added – Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT). CSK lost the first two matches, MI lost their first, RCB played two games with one win and one loss, while KKR won two out of three matches. Also, MS Dhoni became the third oldest batsman to score a fifty in the IPL.

Australia won the Women’s World Cup by defeating England

Australia defeated England by 71 runs in the Women’s World Cup 2022. She has now won the game seven times out of the 12 World Cups in women’s cricket. Australia’s Alyssa Healy also set the record for the highest individual score of 170 runs in the Women’s World Cup final.
