NCERT issues clarification amid backlash over removal of chapters on Mughals from history textbook

Following a controversy over the decision to remove some chapters on Mughal history, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) issued a clarification. NCERT Director Dinesh Prasad Saklani said that the chapters have not been removed. “This is a lie. (Chapter) Mughals have not been toppled. The rationalization process took place last year as there was pressure on students everywhere due to Covid. Expert committees examined class 6-12 books. They recommended that if If this chapter is removed, it will not affect the knowledge of the children and an unnecessary burden can be removed.

Center directs states to be prepared as COVID-19 cases cross 6000

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya held a high-level meeting to discuss the sudden increase in COVID-19 cases. The meeting was called after the fresh tally of Covid-19 cases rose to 6,050 on Friday, the highest daily spike in 203 days (since September 2022). Mandaviya advised all the state representatives to remain alert and prepared for effective management of the virus.

Padma Awards 2023: President Murmu honors ‘Naatu Naatu’ composer Keeravani, Sudha Murthy and others

The Padma Awards took place on Wednesday, April 5. Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav was awarded the Padma Vibhushan. His son and head of the Samajwadi Party (SP) Akhilesh Yadav Received the award from President Draupadi Murmu. Sudha Murthy, author and wife of Infosys founder Narayana Murthy, was awarded the Padma Bhushan for her social work. Music composer MM Keeravani (who composed the Oscar-winning ‘Naatu Naatu’) received the Padma Shri.

Telangana Class 10 paper leak: BJP president Sanjay Kumar released from jail

Bandi Sanjay Kumar, president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of Telangana, who was earlier arrested in a case related to the SSC or Class 10 exam paper leak, was released from jail. Sanjay Kumar, Lok Sabha MP from Karimnagar constituency, has been made the prime accused in the case. He was arrested by the Warangal police on charges of criminal conspiracy and misconduct, among others.

Cabinet Committee on Security headed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Indian Space Policy 2023 approved. The government has approved the Indian Space Policy 2023 which seeks to institutionalize the private sector’s contribution to the space sector with a focus on research and development of advanced space technologies with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).
