The commission will try to secure job opportunities in the private sector for those candidates who qualify the mains exam but fail to clear the interview round. To achieve this, the Commission will obtain consent from the candidates and prepare a certified list of their names, phone numbers and other details. The list will then be made available on its website for private companies and organizations to consider for employment.

Every year a huge number of applicants appear in the PCS exam and only a few are finally selected for the available posts. Those who reach the mains and interview rounds are recognized for their potential and notable achievements.

The officials of UPPSC have started implementing this system and reaching out to the candidates. This step will bridge the gap between the demand and supply of capable candidates as private agencies are in need of such candidates. The commission will also contact agencies to complete the work. Additionally, according to a senior UPPSC official, the state government will be asked to collaborate with private agencies to hire potential candidates as per the requirement of the industry or agency.

An official told Hindustan Times, “The commission believes that the candidates who make it to the interview are very competent. Since only a few meritorious ones make it through this tough three-tier selection process, This initiative will serve two objectives. As stated by the official, the first objective will be to provide jobs to these students so that they do not fall prey to depression and secondly, to meet the staffing requirements of the industries.

According to officials, the new system being implemented for PCS exam can be implemented in other recruitment exams as well, which include both written test and interview. These recruitment exams may include the United States Engineering Service Exam, State Agricultural Service Exam and PCS (J) Exam.
