UP Zilla Panchayat Election Result: BJP uproots SP in local elections; 67 out of 75 seats

Lucknow: Voting took place today for the posts of District Panchayat President in 53 districts of Uttar Pradesh and with the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the counting of votes has now reached its final phase.

According to the State Election Commission, polling began at 11 am on Saturday and continued till 3 pm and counting of votes began just after that.

As per the final trends, the saffron party emerged as the sole winner in the panchayat elections, winning 67 out of 75 seats. The election result came as a major setback for Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (BJP), which managed to win just 5 seats.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 67 out of 75 seats. Samajwadi Party won 5 seats, Lok Dal and Jansatta Dal 1 each. One seat goes to an independent candidate.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath congratulated the BJP candidates for securing a massive mandate in the district panchayat elections. Adityanath also attributed the victory to PM Modi’s welfare schemes.

UP Deputy CM Keshav said, “BJP has achieved a historic victory in the election of District Panchayat President. Samajwadi Party (SP) has removed its goons and mafia from power to win these elections, but they have to face defeat. I am very happy. I thank the Zilla Panchayat members,” UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya said after winning the election.
