A 19-year-old woman committed suicide here after she was allegedly sexually assaulted by the police, her family members claimed on Thursday. The police have denied the allegation. Her family members alleged that police personnel molested her and even pulled her mother out of the bathroom while she was taking a bath when they came to their house on Wednesday.
According to the family members of the woman, she had a fight with her relatives on May 9. He alleged that the police could not do anything even after registering a complaint regarding the incident on the same day. Instead, the police started coming to our house on May 13 after our relatives lodged a complaint about the incident, the mother alleged. “Policemen from Binawar police station used to visit our house almost daily. They also hit my daughter and raped her.
“On Wednesday, they came to our house in the evening and dragged me naked from the bathroom while I was taking a bath. Later they took me and my daughter to the police station and let us go back in the evening. My daughter was hurt by this behavior of the police and she committed suicide.” He demanded action against Sub-Inspector Sanjay Gaur and other police personnel posted at Binawar police station, alleging their involvement.
