Kanpur: Three men arrested for allegedly assaulting a 45-year-old Muslim man in Kanpur were granted bail on Friday.

Later, the police rescued the young man and brought him to the police station.
DCP South Raveena Tyagi said that three main accused have been arrested late Thursday night in connection with the incident of assault and humiliation with an e-rickshaw driver Officer Ahmed in Barra area of ​​the city on Wednesday evening. The Bara police had registered an FIR against a local man, who runs a wedding band, his son and about 10 unidentified people based on the complaint of the assault officer Ahmed.
The DCP further said, “The arrested persons have been identified as Ajay alias Rajesh Bandwala son Gangadhar, Aman Gupta son Suman Kumar Gupta and Rahul Kumar son Prem Babu.” Efforts are on to arrest the remaining accused.
Meanwhile, in protest against the arrest of three people, local activists reached the DCP South office late in the night and raised slogans and sat on a dharna by creating a ruckus.
He, however, left the spot after the officials assured him of a fair investigation.

DCP South Raveena Tyagi later went to Afsar Ahmed’s house and met his daughter, who was crying and clinging to him in a viral video, pleading the attackers to spare her father.
The DCP showered love and affection on the girl and presented her a doll.
Talking to TOI about their meeting, the DCP said that his visit was an attempt to instill a sense of trust among the victim’s family, especially the girl child.
She said, “We told them not to be afraid and trust the police. We also assured them that strict action will be taken against the culprits.”
“Attempts to vitiate the atmosphere will not be tolerated,” he said. Maintaining peace is the priority of the government and strict action will be taken against those indulging in illegal activities.
The DCP said that additional police force has been deployed in the area.
