Up-skilling youth for jobs of the future: Yes Foundation launches new initiative, details here

NS yes foundation recently on Thursday announced a new partnership with the Friends Union for Energizing Lives (FUEL). It was forged in order on the back of the partnership Future Skills Training Program Which was started for the underprivileged youth. The objective of the program is to provide these youth with a certain level of training in the areas of artificial intelligence (AI) and Digital Marketing, with aptitude and employability skills. Yes Foundation hopes to reach out to over 3,500 youth across the country through this initiative.

The ultimate goal of this initiative would be to impart the above knowledge and make these youth job-ready through counseling and skilling for future careers.

The initiative was launched by Maharashtra Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Nawab Malik, in the presence of Prashant Kumar, Managing Director and CEO, Yes Bank, Manisha Verma, Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department, Government of Maharashtra; Ketan Deshpande, Founder and CEO of FUEL and Santosh Huralikoppi, Chief Mentor of FUEL.

Talking about the same, in a press release issued by Yes Foundation, it was also informed that according to India Skills Report 2021, around 45.9 percent of Indian youth are employable. On the other hand, 85.92 percent of them are looking for internships to help them kick-start their careers, according to the release. It was said that these numbers were a direct reflection of the competitive nature of the industry and the high level of competition that youths face in search of employment across the board. However, with the rapid onset of technological advancement, more and more jobs are coming in the market, said Yes Foundation. Hence, there is a need for specialized skills and training for growing areas like AI, Digital Marketing, Cloud Computing etc.

Prashant Kumar said, “The targeted skill-building initiative has been conceived in line with Yes Bank’s belief that empowering today’s youth will secure the future of our country. Skilling the youth in the technology of the future is not only a step towards rewarding career options of the future, but will also go a long way in ensuring sustained economic growth and technological innovation. In line with the Bank’s overall CSR strategy and Global Sustainable Development Goals, the partnership with FUEL will help promote social development in the country and contribute to its economic growth.

Yes Foundation claims that the better skilled these youth are in relevant fields, the more likely they are to get into these new job positions that are popping up. Hence, the unit has partnered with FUEL to provide career counseling as well as skill training to the youth. After completing their training, students will get a certificate which is given jointly under Yes Foundation and Fuel. Necessary support in placement will also be provided to the prospective candidates by helping them to connect with relevant industry businesses/partners through internships or similar.

Apart from skill training, the program will also focus on enhancing self-awareness of youth through competency and soft skill training. It also intends to teach them about different career paths and the skills they will need to get those roles down the line.
