Bareilly: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped and her mother thrashed by the family members of the accused, police said on Thursday. He told that this incident took place on Wednesday in Devarnia Kotwali police station area. Inspector Indra Kumar, citing the victim’s mother’s complaint, said the minor was alone when her 42-year-old neighbor barged into her house and raped her.
The accused also threatened to kill the victim and fled the spot, he said, adding that when the minor’s family returned in the evening, he told them about the incident. Thereafter, when the minor’s mother went to the accused’s house to confront him, his wife and daughter beat her with sticks and threatened to kill her if she reported the matter.
Kumar said an FIR has been registered against the accused persons and the girl has been sent for medical examination. He said that further investigation and efforts are on to nab the accused.
