UP Panchayat elections: ‘Bahu’ of Mulayam Singh Yadav and ‘Samdhin’ of Lalu Prasad Yadav were elected unopposed as Block Chief Kanpur News – Times of India

Kanpur: Samajwadi Party (SP) Patron Mulayam Singh Yadav’s daughter-in-law and Lalu Prasad YadavIn the ongoing Panchayat elections in the state, ‘Samadhi’ (daughter’s mother-in-law) Mridula Yadav has been elected unopposed as the president of Saifai block.

The Saifai block, which was formed in 1994, always had a chief who was a member of or closely related to the Yadav dynasty. The 55 BDC members of Saifai Panchayat elect a block chief and all of those 55 are often BDC members of the Samajwadi Party.
For the first time, Ranveer Singh, son of Mulayam’s elder brother Ratan Singh, has been elected the head of Saifai block.
In 2000, Ranveer was again elected the block head of Saifai. However, after his sudden demise in 2002, the responsibility of block head of Saifai was given to Dharmendra Yadav, son of Mulayam’s younger brother Abhayram Yadav, in 2003.
Dharmendra vacated the seat after a year when he was elected MP Mainpuri In the 2004 Lok Sabha by-elections, Mulayam had vacated the seat after becoming chief minister in 2003.
Thereafter, Arvind Yadav, nephew of Mulayam’s close confidant Nathu Singh, remained the block chief until the responsibility was passed on to Ranveer’s son and Mulayam’s grandson Tej Pratap, who became the block chief in 2011.
However, he vacated the seat in 2014 after being elected from the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat. After this Tej Pratap’s mother Mridula Yadav took over as the new head of Saifai block.
