Lucknow:

The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday issued an order to withdraw over three lakh cases registered against the general public for violation of COVID-19 protocols and lockdown guidelines.

The statement of the Principal Secretary to the UP government said that by withdrawing the cases unnecessary court proceedings would be avoided.

Cases registered under Disaster Management Act, Epidemic Diseases Act, IPC Section 188 and other less serious sections have been withdrawn.

“Such cases registered under the Disaster Management Act, Epidemic Diseases Act, IPC Section 188 and other less serious sections shall be withdrawn,” it said.

But cases registered against sitting and former MLAs, MPs and members of the Legislative Council have not been withdrawn.
