UP Elections: Ateeq Ahmed’s wife will contest from Allahabad West on AIMIM ticket. Allahabad News – Times of India

PRAYAGRAJ: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has fielded mafia don and former MP ateek Ahmedwife of Shaista Parveen From Allahabad West assembly seat of Prayagraj, This seat was once considered the stronghold of Ateeq.
Though her candidature has not been officially announced by the party, AIMIM’s divisional spokesperson Afsar Mahmood has confirmed to TOI that she will be the party’s candidate from Allahabad West.
Atiq had won assembly elections from Allahabad West several times in 1989, 1991 and 1993 as an independent candidate and in 1996 as a Samajwadi Party candidate, while securing the seat in 2002 on an Apna Dal ticket. Presently this seat is represented by Cabinet Minister Siddharth Nath Singh.
While party leaders are still silent on the names of candidates for other seats, AIMIM leaders claim that the party’s district president Shah Alam may contest from Allahabad South seat, while the party may field Atiq from Kanpur Cantonment this time. .
Atiq’s wife had announced his joining AIMIM a few months back and party leaders at that time had said that Atiq and his family members could contest from five assembly seats.
Atiq had joined AIMIM along with his family and associates, which was announced by his wife Shaista at a public meeting held in Prayagraj a few months back. He had also read an emotional letter sent by the former MP declaring his faith in the party chief Asaduddin Owaisi,
