new Delhi: With two phases of Uttar Pradesh assembly elections remaining, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Ballia today to address voters. Campaigning for BJP leaders, PM Modi began his address by speaking about casteism and said that the state no longer wanted to be inspired by it.

“I have an emotional connect with Ballia because the scheme to give Ujjwala gas cylinders free of cost started from here. UP’s development is my responsibility and priority. Under the Yogi government, a Ballia businessman no longer fears his money being stolen ,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi had earlier addressed meetings in Basti, Deoria and Varanasi on Sunday.

The fifth phase of the ongoing assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh concluded at 6 pm yesterday. Polling will be held in the last two phases on March 3 and March 7. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.

UP Vidhan Sabha Election 2017

Voting for the UP Vidhan Sabha Elections 2017 was held in 7 phases with a turnout of 61.04 per cent. In what can be called the Modi wave, BJP won the 2017 UP assembly elections by winning 325 seats with a three-fourth majority.

In the 2017 UP assembly election, the SP government lost 177 seats and managed to get only 47 out of 311 seats. While the Mayawati-led BSP lost more ground, winning 19 of the state’s 403 seats.

Congress had to be content with 7 assembly seats, while BJP’s minor alliance partner Apna Dal managed to snatch 9 out of 11 seats.
